EnviroDataMonitor
Regulatory compliance data collection and curation service

The Problem
There is a wealth of environmental monitoring data available across Europe, however, it is collected to different standards and distributed in diverse ways by many different organisations in different languages and formats through a variety of mechanisms. The effort and time to collect, collate and harmonise these data to undertake a simple assessment of the state-of-the-environment across the EU is excessive.

Yet, EU regulations like that for Plant Protection Products (1107/2009/EC) requires an assessment of these data for regulatory submissions.
The Solution
EnviroDataMonitor

Databases that link into EDM
How Data included in EDM is Processed:

Data Sources

Email Requests
API Download

Data Scrapers

Manual Download
Processing Steps

Translated to English using DeepL API

Consistent chemical name and ID using the CAS Production API

Data is harmonised e.g. consistent units

Converted to consistent EU coordinate reference system
Data license & credit text attribution

Quality checks performed

EDM data is stored in SQLite databases
R-Shiny dashboards facilitate exploration and analysis of the data

Early Warning of environmental detections and business risks

Simplifying standard regulatory submissions (e.g. MCA7.5)

Evaluate exposure and catchment models
Uses of EDM

Inform Post-registration monitoring and stewardship programmes

Stakeholder engagement through CSR and ESG target setting and evaluation

Statistical analyses and insights drawing on latest guidance and standards
